Gin & Tonic in Barcelona

The drink arrives as makings on a tray —
gin bottle, tonic bottle, 20-ounce
stemmed balloon glass filled with rounded
ice cubes plus berries, grapes,
mint leaves, or ginger. The server pours
the gin — two jiggers though generally
not measured, & uncaps the fizzy
to let the drinker mix, sip, add more.
Best if the gin is botanical. Now puzzle
out what’s going on — citrus,
spices, flowers — quite a lot to juggle
all at once. You’ll need a bigger gulp —
hell, why not a whole mouthful?
Now sit back, smile, bliss.
